So You Want to Help?
There are many way in which to help defeat illiteracy. Following are a few links and ideas for what you can do to help.
Read Aloud- Reading allowed help to create interest in text and the act of reading itself. Reading aloud to children is especially important since children do what they see. If a child sees their parent throw trash in the trash bin, the child is likely to do the same, reading is the same. If a child is encouraged and sees their elders reading, the will likely gain interest. So for this, if you are with a child, read to them. Whether you read book to your daughter, your son, your niece, nephew, granddaughter, grandson, brother, sister, neighbors child or students in class. -Here is a link to a few fun activities you can do with your little ones, http://www.rif.org/us/literacy-resources/activities.htm
